It was spoken into chaos. And when we hear it in context, 00:02:01.480 --> 00:02:07.020 we discover that this verse isn't just about calming our hearts. Actually, those last two lines matter a lot, because they tell us who 00:02:34.920 --> 00:02:43.079 God is talking to and why He's saying this at all. To really hear Psalm 46.10, we have to step back 00:02:43.120 --> 00:02:49.760 and listen to the whole psalm. Psalm 46 doesn't begin in a quiet prayer room. It begins with 00:02:49.820 --> 00:02:55.540 upheaval. The psalmist talks about the earth giving way, mountains falling into the sea, 00:02:56.120 --> 00:03:02.980 waters roaring, the ground shaking. That's not poetic calm.
